Construction at Menager’s Dam is complete!
On March 10, 2026, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) commemorated the $14 million project in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the dam site on the Tohono O’odham Nation (TON) in Arizona. Speakers included TON Chairman Verlon Jones, BIA Division of Water and Power Chief Will Shuter, and BIA Deputy Bureau Director Johnna Blackhair. Members of the Ali Chuk village provided a luncheon after the reception.
The newly completed dam includes a rockfill dam with earthfill core, and outlet works for irrigation and flood releases. The structure replaces an existing dam which had developed safety issues and posed a risk to residents downstream.
RJH provided engineering services throughout the life of the project, which began in 2020. Our services included feasibility studies, site inspections, geotechnical investigations and analyses, alternative development and site layout, construction engineering services, and development of design drawings and specifications.
