Engineering services are now underway at Grizzly Reservoir, located in Pitkin County, Colorado. Modifications are needed to address dam safety issues associated with the outlet works, steel facing on the upstream slope of the dam, and tunnel gates.
RJH will perform geotechnical investigations to support the development of design documents for dam rehabilitation. Site accessibility is easiest by driving through the empty 3-mile-long water conveyance tunnel, which RJH engineers were able to do for inspections. Equipment for the geotechnical investigations, however, will be mobilized using an unpaved road through the mountains.
